Which Air Conditioning Brands Do You Supply and Install?

It is the most common question we get asked during a site inspection: “What brand would you put in your own house?”

At Integrated Trade Services, we are not tied to a single manufacturer. We are an independent, dual-trade business. This means we are free to supply and install any major air conditioning brand available in Australia.

However, we are very picky about what we recommend.

Because we are licensed electricians as well as air conditioning installers, we see what happens “under the hood.” We see which circuit boards fry during a Brisbane storm, which plastic casings go yellow and brittle in the sun, and which manufacturers actually honour their warranties without a fight.

While we can source almost anything, we generally narrow our recommendations down to the “Big Three” for Brisbane homes: Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, and Fujitsu.

Our Top Recommendations

If you want a system that will last 10+ years in the Queensland heat, we recommend sticking to the proven market leaders.

1. Mitsubishi Electric (The “Quiet Achiever”)

Best for: Bedrooms, light sleepers, and long-term reliability.

If you ask ten air con technicians what they have installed in their own bedroom, seven of them will say Mitsubishi Electric.

  • Why we love them: They are incredibly quiet. The “Silent Mode” on their split systems is genuinely whisper-quiet, making them perfect for sleeping areas.
  • The Dual-Trade Perspective: From an electrical standpoint, their circuit boards are robust and well-protected against the minor power fluctuations we often see in Brisbane’s grid.
  • Key Feature: Their “Quick Clean” design allows for easier cleaning of the fan barrel, meaning you breathe cleaner air.

2. Daikin (The Specialist)

Best for: Asthma sufferers and those wanting advanced features.

Daikin is one of the few companies that only does air conditioning. They don’t make fridges or TVs; they just focus on climate control.

  • Why we love them: Their “Sensitive Choice” approval (blue butterfly) from the National Asthma Council Australia is a big deal for families. Their air filtration technology is top-tier.
  • The Dual-Trade Perspective: Daikin units are excellent but can be technologically complex. This is where our electrical background helps—we ensure the advanced communication wiring between the indoor and outdoor units is installed perfectly to prevent “communication errors” later on.
  • Key Feature: The “Coanda Airflow” effect streams air upwards along the ceiling (cooling) or downwards along the floor (heating), rather than blasting you directly in the face.

3. Fujitsu General (“Australia’s Favourite Air”)

Best for: Tough reliability and cooling speed.

You have seen the ads with Mark Taylor—Fujitsu is a massive player in the Australian market.

  • Why we love them: They are workhorses. Fujitsu units are designed to reach the set temperature very quickly. If you come home to a boiling hot house and want it cool now, a Fujitsu is a great choice.
  • The Dual-Trade Perspective: Their outdoor units are built tough. In Brisbane’s humid, salty air, we find Fujitsu casings hold up well against corrosion.

Can You Install Other Brands?

Yes. We frequently install Panasonic, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and Samsung systems.

If you have a specific brand in mind—perhaps to match an existing unit in your home or because you have had a great run with one in the past—we are more than happy to supply and install it.

Brands We Generally Avoid (And Why)

We often get asked to install “cheap” units purchased from big-box hardware stores. While the upfront price tag of $500–$600 looks tempting, we often advise against them for three reasons:

  1. Parts Availability: When a cheap unit breaks in three years, finding a replacement fan motor or PC board is often impossible. The unit becomes landfill.
  2. Electrical Safety: As electricians, we have seen budget units with thin wiring and lower-quality capacitors that are more prone to overheating.
  3. Noise: Cheap units often vibrate and rattle after a few summers, which can annoy you (and your neighbours).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which air con brand has the best warranty?

Almost all top-tier brands (Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic) offer a standard 5-year manufacturer’s warranty on parts and labour for residential use. Important Note: This warranty is only valid if the unit is installed by a licensed ARC-certified installer (like us). If you get a “handyman” to install it, your warranty is void instantly.

Do you take away the old unit?

Yes. If we are replacing an existing system, we pump down the refrigerant gas safely (to protect the ozone layer), decommission the electricals, and remove the old unit for recycling.

I bought a unit myself; can you just install it?

We can, but we usually recommend against it. If you supply the unit and it turns out to be faulty out of the box (it happens!), you are responsible for the warranty claim process. If we supply the unit, we handle the warranty for you. We prefer to supply and install so that if anything goes wrong, you only have one phone number to call.

Is Mitsubishi Heavy Industries the same as Mitsubishi Electric?

No, they are two completely separate companies. Both are excellent Japanese engineering firms, and both make great air conditioners, but they are rivals. We supply both, though we find Mitsubishi Electric is often slightly quieter for residential bedrooms, while Heavy Industries units are absolute powerhouses for large living spaces.
